Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my site. I don't care much for talking about myself...always hated that in job interviews...bombed it every time. LOL! I am a very quirky, unique person who uses a lot of, "DOT DOT DOTS......." when I write. I can't help it! I am a big goofball who loves making people laugh, so most of my writing tends to be humorous and non-professional. I absolutely LOVE writing, so blogging photos is pretty amazing for me because now I can tell a story for you with each session. YAY!
I have been in love with photography ever since I was a kid. My mom was always annoyed when I told her I had prints to pick up at the store when she got off of work. I would take in about seven or eight rolls of film in at a time. Thank goodness the days are digital now. *Insert big smile* I never imagined I would someday be snapping photos for people as a profession...you have no idea how happy this journey makes me.
I enjoy photographing just about anything and everything, and I am always up for a challenge. I have met some AMAZING people since I started this new chapter in life, and I can honestly say that I have gained some FANTABULOUS friends along the way. I have been so blessed and I look forward to learning new things, growing in my work, meeting new people, and capturing those memories for you so you can cherish them for a long, long time.
I know what you're thinking..."I thought she didn't like talking about herself?". I don't...I just LOVE to talk in general. HA! Oh, but did you notice I love run-on sentences too?? LOL!
Thanks again for checking out my work; I appreciate each and every one of you!
I had so much fun meeting this little cutie pie! He did such a great job and I couldn’t believe how social he was…he let me (total stranger) throw him into the air and everything…and he laughed! LOL! Hope to see him and his family again in the future!
Happy 1st Birthday, Coltyn; hope it’s a great one!
So yesterday I received my first, “thank you” card of the year (thank you, Brenda), which got me thinking…I really need to start fresh on my client board for 2014.
I always say that my clients aren’t just clients, they are like my friends and family. I truly do care about those that I have had the pleasure of working with. I am a sentimental junkie and I save all of my thank you notes/cards, special items from an event, etc…
So here is what my board looked like before cleaning it off:
This is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to Steph and I shooting weddings together…and we still get the job done!
Love my mug shot? Little tidbit about that evening: Shot a wedding for 12 hours and at the reception I found out my friend’s water broke, so I packed up my stuff and headed out on a 3 hour drive to Cleveland. I didn’t get any sleep that night; arrived there around 2:00 am I believe, tried sleeping in the waiting room but I was too scared of someone stealing my stuff and the leather seats were sooooo noisy. So needless to say, I shot a birth that following day running on fumes and it was one of the best moments ever!! Sleep is so overrated!
One of my friend’s daughter; I got to shoot her senior pics and cut this out of the paper. So cute/pretty!
The photography industry is very cut-throat and competitive. I will be honest, there are days when I feel like throwing in the towel. Not because I don’t love it, but because some people make your job difficult (I know you all experience that as well), lack of appreciation at times, extreme late nights getting work done, a lot of time away from home/family, very expensive career, etc… Then I come across mail, emails, text messages, that make all of the sacrificing feelings go away. One sweet sentence, one smiling emoji, “likes” on my page, special comments on client photos, and the joy that is brought to people who love their memories captured, make all of the bad just disappear. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to just send me a quick thank you…a note to tell me how your images made you feel…and thank you for referring me to others. I have a very small family and a small circle of friends, so you passing along my information means such a great deal to me and I appreciate it immensely.
I love when mom’s send me birth announcements (this is my Cleveland birth story baby (mom took the images)) and couples send me their, “save the date” cards or wedding invitations. I love seeing the creativity other people have or just seeing my work that I have created for them. I just love that people take time out of their moment to think of me and include me in on their lives as well.
Well…after receiving a few threatening emails, having to hire lawyers, shelling out money we didn’t have, and a whole lot of stress…I am happy to announce that after a year, “Lipstick & Lead” Photography, is officially a registered, trademarked name! BOOYAH…I feel so much better! Now…time to fork out more money for rebranding all of my marketing items. *smacking my forehead* LOL!
Taking pics of my own kids usually seems like such a task! Trying to get stuff set up, pick out their clothes, fixing their hair, all while arguing with them…then by the time it comes to taking pictures, it’s usually meltdown time! I generally don’t have much of an issue with the older two, but that youngest…geezow…I think I will hire someone to take her pictures next time. LOL! All I wanted was a few Valentine’s photos…this is what I got:
Hope you all have a wonderful, Valentine’s Day! XOXO
